Frequently Asked Questions
Glueless Installation
What does "glueless" actually mean?
A glueless wig is designed to stay in place using built-in adjustable straps, internal combs, and a snug cap construction — no adhesive, glue, tape, or gel required. RayHair glueless units come ready to wear straight out of the box. Simply adjust the strap to your head size, click the combs into place at the front and sides, and go.
How do I install a glueless wig step by step?
- Lay your natural hair flat (braids, flat twists, or a wig cap work great).
- Place the wig on your head with the front lace sitting at your natural hairline.
- Use the adjustable strap at the back to secure a snug fit — not too tight.
- Press the internal combs (front centre, left, and right) gently into your hair or wig cap.
- Lay the lace down with your fingertips. A little heat from a hair dryer on a low setting can help the lace melt naturally — no glue needed.
- Style as desired and go!
Will a glueless wig stay secure outdoors and during everyday activity?
Yes — RayHair glueless wigs feature adjustable straps and internal combs, which together create a reliable hold for daily wear, light exercise, and time outdoors. Units such as our Burmese Curl 5×5 include 3 internal combs plus adjustable straps for added security. That said, for very high-intensity activity (running, water sports) or particularly windy conditions, a light edge gel along the perimeter or a headband-style unit may give extra peace of mind.
When might I still want to use adhesive?
Most customers never need glue. However, if you have a very small or very large head, if your natural hairline is especially fine, or if you simply prefer an ultra-flat lace for photography and content creation, a small amount of got2b or wig glue along the perimeter is perfectly compatible with RayHair units. This is entirely optional.
My lace looks lifted at the edges — what do I do?
First, check that the adjustable strap is snug enough. Then press the lace edges down with your fingertips and apply gentle low heat from a hair dryer for 10–15 seconds to help the lace conform to your skin. A wig grip band worn underneath the wig also helps keep the cap stable and prevents lifting throughout the day.
Fit & Sizing
How do I know if a RayHair wig will fit my head?
All RayHair wigs come with an adjustable cap, which suits the majority of head circumferences. To check your fit before ordering, measure around your head from your hairline at the centre-front, around to the nape, and back to the front — a standard adult measurement is 21–23 inches (53–58 cm). Our adjustable straps can be tightened or loosened to fit within this range comfortably.
What if the wig feels too loose or too tight?
If it feels loose: tighten the adjustable strap at the back one hook at a time and make sure all combs are clipped in securely. Wearing a wig grip band or a thin wig cap underneath adds friction and dramatically improves hold.
If it feels tight: loosen the strap gradually. Never force a wig onto your head — if it is uncomfortably tight after full adjustment, please contact us so we can advise.
Human Hair Blend — What Is It?
What is a human hair blend wig?
A human hair blend wig combines real human hair with a premium heat-friendly synthetic fibre. This gives you the soft, natural movement and feel of human hair at a more accessible price point, while the fibre component helps the style hold its shape longer and reduces everyday maintenance. RayHair blend wigs — such as our Burmese Curl and Yaki Straight units — use a 30% human hair content mixed with a durable fibre blend.
How is a blend different from fully synthetic hair?
A fully synthetic wig uses 100% manufactured fibre. It typically cannot be heat-styled beyond very low temperatures and may feel less natural to the touch. A human hair blend has a noticeably softer feel, more realistic movement, and — crucially — can be styled with heat tools, making it far more versatile than standard synthetic hair.
How is a blend different from 100% human hair?
A 100% human hair wig offers maximum styling flexibility — it can be coloured, chemically treated, and styled exactly like your own hair. A blend is not suitable for colouring or chemical processes. It can be heat-styled within the recommended range (see below), but it will not behave identically to 100% human hair under high heat or chemical exposure. Blend wigs are an excellent middle ground for buyers who want a natural look and some heat-styling versatility without the cost of a full human hair unit.
Heat Styling
Can I use heat on a RayHair wig?
It depends on the unit:
- Human hair blend wigs (e.g. Burmese Curl, Yaki Straight, Bouncy Wave, Chocolate Auburn): these are heat-friendly and can be straightened or curled. Always use low to medium heat only and apply a heat protectant spray before styling. Avoid excessive or repeated high heat, which can permanently loosen curl patterns or damage the fibre component.
- Futura fibre wigs (e.g. 18″ Bouncy Futura Fiber, Noir Luxe Futura Fiber): Futura fibre is a heat-resistant synthetic designed to hold its style. It can tolerate moderate heat — typically up to around 180°C / 356°F — but always start low and test on a small section. Do not use very high heat or you risk altering the style permanently.
- Standard fibre / pre-styled units: if your unit is not listed as heat-friendly or Futura fibre, treat it as heat-sensitive and avoid direct heat tools.
What heat setting should I use?
For blend wigs, keep styling tools — flat irons, curling wands, and hair dryers — on a low to medium setting. As a general guide, aim for no higher than 150–180°C (300–356°F) and always apply heat protectant first. For blow-drying, use a diffuser or low airflow setting to avoid disrupting curl patterns.
Washing & Care
How do I wash my RayHair wig?
- Gently detangle the hair from ends to roots using a wide-tooth comb before washing.
- Fill a basin with cool or lukewarm water and add a small amount of sulphate-free shampoo.
- Submerge the wig and gently work the shampoo through from roots to ends — do not scrub or wring.
- Rinse thoroughly with cool water until the water runs clear.
- Apply a lightweight conditioner from mid-lengths to ends (avoid the lace and knots at the root). Leave for 2–3 minutes, then rinse.
- Gently press (do not wring) excess water out with a towel and place on a wig stand to air-dry.
For curly units (e.g. Burmese Curl): after washing, use your fingers — not a brush — to gently separate and reshape the curls. Brushing a curly blend wig will cause frizz and disrupt the curl pattern.
For straight and wavy units: brush gently from ends upward with a wide-tooth comb, then store on a wig stand to preserve the style.
How often should I wash my wig?
For daily wear, washing every 7–10 days is a reasonable guideline, or more frequently if you use a lot of styling products. Over-washing can shorten the lifespan of any wig, so keep washes to when the unit genuinely needs refreshing.
Can I sleep in my RayHair wig?
We do not recommend sleeping in your wig. Friction from pillows causes tangling, matting, and premature shedding. If you need to sleep with it on, braid or twist the hair loosely, cover it with a silk or satin bonnet, and switch to a silk pillowcase where possible.
Shedding & Realistic Expectations
Is some shedding normal?
Yes — a small amount of shedding when you first wear or wash a new wig is completely normal and expected. This is loose hair that was not fully secured during the construction process and will taper off after the first few wears. Excessive or ongoing shedding is not normal; if this occurs please contact us with photos so we can help.
How can I minimise shedding?
- Always detangle gently from ends to roots — never pull through knots from the root.
- Avoid rough handling, aggressive brushing, or heat on the highest settings.
- For curly wigs, finger-detangle rather than using a brush or fine-tooth comb.
- Store on a wig stand when not in use to prevent tangling.
Will the colour or texture look exactly like the photos?
We photograph our wigs in good lighting to represent them as accurately as possible. However, screen colour calibration and lighting conditions vary, so exact shades may appear slightly different in person. For blend wigs, please note that curl pattern and density can have slight natural variations from unit to unit — this is stated in our product listings and is characteristic of any blended hair product.
How long will a RayHair wig last?
With proper care — gentle washing, correct heat use, safe storage, and minimal rough handling — a well-maintained RayHair blend or glueless wig can last many months of regular wear. The lifespan depends on how often it is worn and how it is cared for. Treating it with the same care you would give your own hair will significantly extend its life.
